This Privacy Policy explains how BorrowNow.ca (“BorrowNow”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit this website or submit a loan-matching application. BorrowNow is a free loan-matching service. We are not a lender, we do not make credit decisions, and we never ask for your online banking login. We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, the private-sector privacy laws of Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec.

What we collect

Information you give us in the application form. Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, province and mailing address, employment status, employer and income details, pay frequency, the loan amount you are requesting and how you would like to receive funds. We only ask for what lenders need to consider a small-dollar loan request.

Information collected automatically. Standard technical logs such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the page that referred you. We use essential cookies to keep the site and the application form working and may use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings; the application form may not work correctly without essential cookies.

Information from lenders. When a lender in our network receives your application, it may tell us whether the application was received, reviewed or funded so that we can track referrals and prevent fraud. We do not receive your bank statements, credit report or banking credentials.

How we use your information

Who we share it with

Lenders. Submitting the application form authorizes us to send your application to one or more lenders in our network. Each lender’s own privacy policy governs how it uses your information once it receives it. Lenders may, with your consent at their stage of the process, verify your identity and income through Instant Bank Verification (IBV) and review your credit file with agencies such as Equifax or TransUnion.

Referral partners. If no lender in our network can consider your request, we may forward your application to another licensed referral or matching service so that you still receive a response.

Service providers. Companies that host our website, run our application platform, send our emails and store our records, under contracts that restrict them to working on our behalf.

Legal requirements. We disclose information where the law requires it, in response to a court order or lawful request, or to protect the rights and safety of BorrowNow, our users or the public.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep application records for as long as needed to deliver the service, track referrals, resolve complaints and meet legal requirements, and then delete or anonymize them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, subject to records we are required by law to keep.

How we protect it

Your application is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored on access-controlled systems. Access is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent to marketing, or ask us to delete it. Email info@borrownow.ca with “Privacy request” in the subject line and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy commissioner.
