Getting Started

What is BorrowNow.ca?

BorrowNow.ca is a free loan-matching service that connects Canadians with lenders offering online loans from $50 to $1,000. We are not a lender — we match your application with suitable Canadian lenders so you can compare an offer and get funded by Interac e-Transfer.

Who can apply for an online loan?

Most working adults in Canada can apply. You generally need to be at least 18, a Canadian resident, have regular income from full-time or part-time employment, and hold an active Canadian bank account.

How do I apply?

Complete the short online form, get matched with a lender, verify your income with IBV, review your offer, and receive funds by e-Transfer. See the full walkthrough on our how to apply page.

Loan Amounts

How much can I borrow online in Canada?

Through BorrowNow.ca you can borrow between $50 and $1,000. The exact amount depends on your income, your province or territory, and the lender’s criteria. You can choose by amount: $100, $200, $300, $500, or $1,000.

What can I use the loan for?

There are no restrictions on how you use your funds — a bill, a repair, groceries, or a gap between paycheques. Borrow only what you need and can comfortably repay.

Speed and Funding

How fast will I receive my money?

Because income is verified instantly with IBV, decisions come back in minutes to a few hours. Most approved applicants receive funds by Interac e-Transfer the same business day when they apply before 2:00 PM on a weekday.

How are the funds sent?

Approved funds are sent by Interac e-Transfer directly to your Canadian bank account. Turn on Autodeposit so the transfer arrives automatically.

Credit

Do I need good credit to borrow?

No. There is no minimum credit score, and all credit types are considered. Poor credit, no credit history, and past credit problems are all welcome — see online loans for bad credit.

Will applying affect my credit score?

BorrowNow.ca verifies your income with IBV, a secure read-only connection that does not affect your credit score. Any credit check is performed by the matched lender as part of their own review.

Costs and Safety

What does an online loan cost?

BorrowNow.ca charges no application fee. Loan costs are set by the matched lender and disclosed in full — including the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and total repayment — before you sign. Across Canada the federal criminal interest rate is capped at 35% APR (in effect since January 1, 2025).

What is IBV and is it safe?

Instant Bank Verification (IBV) is a secure, read-only way for a lender to confirm your income from your bank account. It cannot move money or make changes, takes about 60 seconds, and does not affect your credit score.

Is BorrowNow.ca a lender?

No. BorrowNow.ca is a loan-matching service that connects you with independent Canadian lenders. We do not lend money or set loan terms — the matched lender does, and discloses everything before you sign.

FAQ: Verification and Privacy

What exactly does the lender see in my bank account?

A read-only snapshot of roughly 90 days: your deposits, their regularity, your balance pattern, and any NSF activity. The lender never sees your password, can never move money, and the connection closes after verification — see our full IBV guide for the step-by-step.

Is my personal information sold or shared?

Your application is shared with the lender you”re matched to — that”s the service — and handled under PIPEDA, Canada”s federal privacy law. You can ask any organization what it holds about you, and complain to the Privacy Commissioner if the answer doesn”t add up.

Why was I asked to reconnect my bank?

Usually one of three things: the first connection used an account with no pay deposits, a two-factor code expired mid-login, or your bank had a maintenance window. Reconnect with the account your employer pays into and the verification typically completes in the standard 60 seconds. If it fails twice, stop and contact the lender rather than retrying — repeated failed logins can temporarily lock your online banking.

Can I apply for someone else?

No — applications are personal. The income, the bank account, and the signature must all belong to the applicant. If you want to help a family member, sit with them while they apply rather than applying in their name, which is fraud even with good intentions.

Where and How You Repay

Is BorrowNow.ca available across Canada?

Yes. We serve every province and territory. See how borrowing works where you live on our borrow money online by province & territory hub.

How do I repay my loan?

Repayment terms are set by your lender and shown in your offer before you sign. Many lenders let you repay on a schedule that matches your paydays, and some allow penalty-free early repayment. Always check your agreement.

Still have a question? Start your application and your matched lender can walk you through the details. For independent guidance on borrowing, visit the FCAC guide to personal loans and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.
